HI there! My name is Katie and I am a senior at the University at Albany. This May, I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in sociology. I have a passion for learning about human behavior and the functioning of human society, but also have a passion for learning about other cultures, religions, and ways of life. Mission work has always interested me because helping others has always given me a sense of fulfillment. Before I settle down with a career fresh out of college, I’m taking the time to serve God and the people of Matagalpa, Nicaragua.

Growing up, I spent every Sunday attending Sunday School and church. Bethlehem Lutheran Church has been home to me for many years. Over the years, my faith has grown stronger and so has my yearning for wanting to travel and help others with my service. Representing Bethlehem Lutheran Church, I hope to inspire others to do the same service.

Last summer, I was given the opportunity to travel to Matagalpa, Nicaragua for a short-term mission trip. My father has been to Nicaragua a hand full of times on mission trips which inspired me to go along. Our mission team spent the week building a kitchen for the feeding program, cooking and feeding the children, mapping out the community, tutoring the children, as well as painting, welding, and much more. It was an amazing week filled with a lot of blessings, love and adventure.

I had such an incredible time in Nicaragua last summer that I feel a calling to go back, but this time for a longer amount of time. I am so blessed to be given a second opportunity to travel to Nicaragua to intern for Enrich Missions for the whole month of June. I will be helping Wayne and Megan with the enrichment center, with transporting tutors to the school as well as tutoring the children, with cooking and serving the children, and much more. As a psychology student, I am hoping to help the children cope with their daily struggles and remind them to look to God. I am so excited to return and see the smiling faces of all the children.

This internship will be an amazing experience I will cherish for life. I am looking forward to making a difference in the lives of the people in Matagalpa, and to strengthen my faith in Christ while I am there. Please pray for me as I take this journey to help Wayne and Megan at Enrich Missions, and consider helping me with a donation.

My fundraising goal for this experience is $1,200. I’m asking for you to prayerfully consider supporting me by making a donation, praying, and spreading the word about what I’m doing!

Adios!
