Ice Cream Rewards donate

Reward programs are common in the US. We’re making them common here as well. We’ve partnered with Kiss Me Ice Cream in Matagalpa to offer free cones for students that make the honor roll! Any student with a B average or higher will receive a certificate for a free cone. It’s the first program of its kind here, and were super happy to be the ones implementing it. Donate

When we first asked the school staff about it, they didn’t really understand what we were talking about. Ice cream for good grades? Nonsense. But when we talked with them about rewarding positive behavior, things started clicking into place. Public school teachers in Nicaragua are incredibly hard working with very little support. Having this tool in their toolbox has made dramatic improvements. The first time we awarded ice cream to students we had about 8 kids. Now we have over 40. Just the knowledge that hard work produces good rewards is a motivator.

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Motivating students to value their own education is the die that casts the key.
